Each PAF reading lesson has five components: Review, Introduction of New Material, Dictation, Reading, and Reinforcement, regardless of the level in the PAF Instructional Sequence. Each PAF lesson lasts between 45-60 minutes and ideally lessons should be delivered 5 days a week in Tier 1. In Tier 2 and Tier 3 settings, PAF can be adjusted to fit the scheduling needs of the school. All lessons are delivered through the direct instruction model, with students receiving immediate teacher feedback. The PAF Instructional Sequence progresses from simple to complex concepts, and skills are practiced and reinforced at each level until they become automatic. Since all work is done under teacher supervision, there is opportunity for daily assessment of student learning and for teachers to adapt instruction as needed.
